Taking Care of your Laptop Case

2/25/2010 8:14:57 PM

It’s important to take good care of your laptop carrying case to ensure it lasts for some time. This is essential to ensure that your laptop and other mobile gear also remain secure in your laptop case. Consider the following:

Laptop Case Hardware:
You should never apply oil to the hinges and locks of the case because it can leak into the case and you know what may happen next. If the hardware gets wet, you should wipe it off as soon as possible so that it does not rust.

Always avoid overstuffing a laptop case as it can be pretty stressful on the zippers and cause them to split or rip off their seams. Waxed paper is some thing you could use to help the zippers work more smoothly and they can be repaired if you have the proper tools.

Wheels on Roller Cases:
In order to keep the wheels of the case rolling quietly and smoothly, you could use WD-40. Always try to avoid bouncing your case while going up or down the stairs and try to evade having the wheels go through a wet area. Even if they do, wipe off the wetness and dry the wheels as soon as possible.

It’s very useful to apply a good quality protectant to your laptop case before you use it for the first time. The protectant should be right for the material that your laptop is made up of and whenever you clean the case, apply it again.

Telescopic Handle:
Before using the handle, you should always extend it and before pulling the handle, it should be locked into position. You should use the handgrip handle or the shoulder strap instead of carrying the case by the handle.

The above mentioned tips are very useful in taking care of your laptop bag.
